Little Nicky (12)
2000 1hr 30mins, Comedy Fantasy.
When somebody's mother is an angel and his father is the devil, life can be really confusing. For a sweet boy like Little Nicky, it just got a whole lot worse. His two evil brothers Adrian and Cassius have just escaped from Hell and are wreaking havoc on an unsuspecting earth. His dad is disintegrating and it's up to Nicky to save him and all of a humanity by midnight before one of his brothers becomes the new Satan.
Director: Steven Brill
Writers: Tim Herlihy, Adam Sandler |
Stars: Adam Sandler, Patricia Arquette, Harvey Keitel Rhys Ifans
Adam Sandler's real life dog, named Meatball, is the son of the dog that played Mr. Beefy in this movie. Meatball was Adam Sandler's best man at his wedding.
Harvey Keitel replaced Dustin Hoffman in the role of Satan.
Adam Sandler expressed in one of his songs, that this movie was his father's favorite film featuring Adam.
The plot is very similar to the Chris Farley movie 'Tommy Boy' where the underdog son of an important man (who's dying here instead of being dead) has to go on an adventure to save the "family business".
Box office: a flop 85m/58m
Was it that Bad?
Rotten Tomatoes, only 22% of critics gave Little Nicky a positive review. The site's consensus states "Despite the presence of a large, talented cast, the jokes in Little Nicky are dumb, tasteless, and not that funny, and Adam Sandler's character is grating to watch
Metascore (Critics) rating 3.9/10
It's funnier than "Bedazzled," which isn't saying much.
The kindest thing that can be said about Sandler's sense of humour is that it's unapologetically juvenile.
How much you enjoy this movie depends on how funny you find Sandler talking out the side of his mouth with a gravelly squawk, for the entire movie.
IMDB User rating 5.3/10
A lot of positivity possibly die hard Sandler fans
"Mostly just stupid fun, but it is a fun movie for Sandler fans".
Im a big Sandler fan his latest movie Uncut Gems is very good but a million miles away from this 20 year old comedy.
The Silly voice didnt help
I Enjoyed the multiple cameos dotted throughout
A good plot is sadly wasted
Possibly his worst movie in my humble opinion
Has it aged well? No not really.
