Movie Review Harriet (2019)Tuesday, 5 November 2019 | Admin Movie Review Harriet (2019) 2hr 5m Action, Biography, Drama The extraordinary tale of Harriet Tubman's escape from slavery and transformation into one of America's greatest heroes, whose courage, ingenuity and tenacity freed hundreds of slaves and changed the course of history. Director: Kasi Lemmons Stars: Cynthia Erivo, Leslie Odom Jr., Joe Alwyn Any Good? Harriet Tubman was a genuine hero and unfortunately, this telling of her story does not do the truth justice. Much of the film is very samey to what's already out there and I believe the source material out there was plenty to allow this to stand out from the rest but the opportunity has been missed. It's ok but did drag in parts and the powerful gritty scenes are not that unfortunately and left the watcher a little empty when in reality they should have pummelled our emotions. A heroic story badly told. MGN Rating 6/10 IMDB Rating 6/10 Metascore (Critics) Rating 6.6/10 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osP9iJjvlAE |
