Movie Review

Brightburn (2019)

What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister?

Stars: Elizabeth Banks, David Denman, Jackson A. Dunn

Any Good?

Yes, it's basically a Superman Origins film, if Superman was an evil little sod. Nature not nurture you understand. I was hoping the lad would fly off to somewhere cold and meet a hologram of his Dad, but no such luck.

Saying this I enjoyed the movie. It was slow-paced and felt far longer than 90 minutes in all fairness but the acting of young Jackson A. Dunn who plays our evil young lead carries it through nicely.

Will not be enough depth or action for many watching but in a world of heroes, it's nice to have an origins film of a nasty anti-hero. perhaps he'll come up against Superman in a future sequel, but I'd rather see him progress and age in a world where he alone has special powers.

MGN Rating 7/10
